The Museum worker offered Christopher, Emily, and Lydia the chance to do a scavenger hunt while they were looking at the exhibits and watching the short film.
They had fun answering all of the questions, and it kind of forced them to pay attention a little bit ;-)
The displays showed various aspects of life in the Manassas area through the years. This section discussed slave life in the 1800's. Personally, I liked the quilt best ;-) And Christopher just HAD to call attention to the chamberpot :-P
This is an actual flag from the Prince William Calvary!
The Museum ended with a discussion of life in the early 1900's. The kids thought the idea of a old-time phone and switchboard was SO interesting :-)
I've always been fascinated by pictures like these. Looking into the faces and the eyes of these young men...wondering what they were thinking...wondering who were the women, young ladies, and the moms who were waiting at home for them, writing them.
Just being reflective...Wow...
I love that the children enjoy visiting museums and learning about life prior to the present day. We are so blessed to live in this history-filled part of the country :-) May we never grow tired of it!!Of course, we HAD to finish off the visit to the Museum with a trip to their playground ;-)
What a fun afternoon!!
